Suzy Kim is a gastroenterologist in Greenville, SC. She obtained her college degree at Brown University, then medical degree at University of Pennsylvania. She specialized in internal medicine at Boston University followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. After staying on as assistant professor at Emory for several years, she joined Gastroenterology Associates where she found her “Dream Team”. Everyone in this independent practice believes in providing the best patient care and has been in the forefront of monitoring performance with proven quality measures. That culture of transparency and genuineness is very important for Suzy as it makes her work a joy. Each year, for one Friday in March, the physicians provide free colonoscopy screenings for Colon Cancer Awareness. This community service is very important to Suzy since her father died of colon cancer a few years ago.
Suzy founded the Clinical Research Department several years ago and within a few years, the Department has been highly sought after as a Research Site with specialization in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis). Research is also being conducted in a broad range of gastroenterology diseases.
Beyond all the professional and academic work, Suzy makes sure she finds time to engage in an eclectic mix of activities that reminds her of how much she loves Greenville city and people: community service with friends to honor the memory of a most beloved nurse who battled cancer, performing Korean drums throughout the Upstate with members of the Korea Center of Greenville, biking or rollerblading on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to feel the excitement and energy of the city.
